What is Vokation?

Everybody knows how it is boring to have an appointment with a guidance counsellor. They are often more inclined to hold small talks with their colleagues drinking coffee, or barely able to guide you using informations about the labor market from the 1980's. So our target audience are students between 16 and 25 years old, who are totally or partially lost about their professional career, and who mistrust the efficiency of the current and old career guidance system.
Today, young people are all day long connected to their smartphones, and we thought that we have to meet students where they are, namely on the internet and thanks to a career guidance video game. Our mission is to catch their attention, in order to make them aware of the importance of feeling concerned in matters of career guidance.
Even if we tried to make career guidance more attractive and fun for young students, we wanted above all to design an efficient application. We didn’t only propose a “cool” way of searching information about professional career, but we also totally reinvent career guidance by proposing a new and more efficient system. In short, we made the form more attractive and we improved the content in order to provide a career guidance system which affect more students and guide them in a much better way.

The definition of the project

Context

Today, there is a big issue regarding professional orientation because orientation methods don't really evolve through time to adapt to the evolution of society, especially concerning the digital area. So, the aim of this game is to allow students the discovery of a professional environment in a new way. It is much more concrete and then it will be easier for them to be aware if they are enjoying this professional area or not. To sum up, we wanted to reinvent a career guidance system which is currently boring and inefficient for a large majority of students, in spite of being really crucial for themselves and for the performance of the whole society.

Target

The idea is to reach students from 16 to 25 years old. At the end of high school and when they are entering university, their outlooks about jobs are blurred. They have just heard about some notions but nothing is really concrete. If we take the example of business schools, they may have heard about finance, marketing or management but they don't really know what is behind these notions
More precisely students at secondary school but also at high school. In fact, it may be interesting for this two segments to discover the environment of a company:
- For the secondary school students, they are looking for the professional area they would like to study, so it may be interesting for them to discover the conditions of working of this area.
- For the university students, they are looking for the profession they would like to do in a company, so it may also be interesting for them to discover different professions into a specific professional area.
The offer is answering the need of the student to have much more concrete information about the career guidance and the professional world. It is no more only words, it is also images, movements, immersions, reality and discovery. Then, they could make up their minds easier. As a result, their choices of career guidance may be correctly justified.

Service offered

Vokation could be understood as an initiatory journey about career guidance.
First, the student launch the app, subscribe to it and create his profile. Once he did it, the user would be able to take a personality test ( based on RIASEC conventions ). His result to the test will determine his “match percentage” with some professional sectors like Law, Informatic, Medical, etc. Then, he will be able to explore the simulation experience of these related sectors, and much more if he wants to.
But we wanted to create additional contents, useful for the user, like a method to create CV, an internship search hub, or the possibility to converse with professional who are working in the targeted sector of the user, etc.
The global idea is to guide the student step by step, from his disoriented starting situation to the discovery of his professional vocation.
